Choosing the right domain name can make the difference between success and failure of your business’ website. As the rate at which domain names are being bought up is set to increase exponentially in the next two years – the quicker you can make a decision and purchase, the better.Choosing the right domain should be as important as naming your product or entire company.
1. Keep it short. This makes it easier for people to remember.
2. Make it easy to spell. The easier it is to spell the easier to type and remember.
3. If the domain name you want is unavailable, add a hyphen. For example, if you want to use the domain name findagooddomain.com and that domain is already taken, try using findagood-domain.com
4. Choose the right keywords that describes more about what your website is about. You’re site is better search engine optimized if you use a long tail keyword because there will be fewer webmasters who will choose them.Choosing the right domain name for your website is critical to your success.
5. You can use letters, numbers, and dashes, but no spaces. Also, domain names are not case sensitive.
6. Always try to use a .com domain. Do not use .net, .org, .gov, or any other type of domain.
7. Keep it professional. If your website is going to be about snowmobiles, do not use www.tedsnowmobiles.com. Avoid using your own name in the domain name. That looks unprofessional.
