Your Web Hosting Options

There is one thing that connects every single website on the Internet and that is web hosting. No matter what the information and design, it is web hosting that allows a webmaster to make their website public and take ownership of their creativity. They may display whatever they like, from paid ads, to free content.

A major myth about web hosting is that all hosting packages offer the same thing. This is not true and you really need to consider the kind of website you will be making and how many visitors you are expecting, before you decide on your hosting package. The good news is that there is a hosting package for every kind of website and every kind of budget.

Of course there is the option of free hosting. This could be worth considering if you are just starting out and creating a small website just for family and friends. It is a good way to get knowledge of creating websites without any experience. Free hosting will allow you to get some web space; however there are downsides to free hosting. You may have to put up with the hosting companies ads on your site. You will not be able to display your own money making ads and you will be restricted as to how much traffic you can accept. Since you can get a hosting package for a very cheap price, it may be worth the small investment for the extra flexibility with design and monetization.

Most webmasters start out with shared hosting. This means that there will be many websites on one server. This is a good way to start your website on a budget. You will save money and still have the flexibility you require for your website. You can choose various packages and decide how much disk space and bandwidth you require. The price will vary depending on the size you choose, but will not be too expensive. The downsides to shared hosting are that if your website experiences a large surge in traffic you may not have enough bandwidth to handle it, which could mean visitors could not view your website. A busy website may lose traffic, sales and money. If you are starting a business website and expecting a large amount of traffic it may be worth considering your other options.

It may be worth while considering whether dedicated hosting may suit your website. Dedicated hosting means that your website will be on its own server. This means you will have more bandwidth and disk space. You will also be able to enjoy more freedom and features. You will have your own IP, so will not have to deal with complications from multiple users sharing the same IP. Of course this is more expensive than shared hosting.

Some people may wish to consider buying a reseller hosting package. This is a good idea, if you are a web designer, or someone who is looking to make some extra cash from web hosting. You can purchase hosting space from a company and then you can divide the space into several sections, so that you may host several sites.

Whatever your website, web hosting should be a major part of your plans. Whether you would like to try out a free host or a dedicated server there are endless opportunities to choose from.
