Product Creation Purchasing a Domain Name

In my previous article we covered how to research your target market and come up with an idea for your eBook. In this article we will go over purchasing your domain name.

When you are selecting your domain name there are a few things you will need to keep in mind when choosing a URL. They are:

– Make it memorable
– Make it short and sweet
– No numbers or dashes
– Make sure it is easy to spell
– Make it descriptive of your product
– It should end in a .com (if possible, otherwise try .info, .net, .biz, or .org)

If this will be your main site you will want to buy up all of the name variations, as well as the .info, .net, .org, and .biz versions of the domain to protect your branding.

There are several websites available that help you to find domain name variations. These sites like Nameboy.com will help you to find close alternatives to your domain name in case your first choice is not available.

You can buy your domain names anywhere you like, but I personally prefer and recommend GoDaddy.com. Some of my friends prefer to use NameCheap.com. Ultimately the choice is yours, but find a domain registrar that you are comfortable working with.

After selecting and purchasing your domain name you will want to get hosting for your website. I recommend HostGator.com for several reasons, including:

– Excellent customer service
– Reliable uptime
– Easy installation and backup of WordPress

In my next article we’ll talk about Autoresponders.
