Google AdWords Tips – Ads Rarely Show Due to Poor Quality Score and How You Can Solve it

Have you ever seen the message: “Ads rarely show due to poor quality score” in your Google AdWords account? If yes, this is bad news for you.

When you see this message in your accounts, it means that Google has rated your campaign as low quality, due to many factors such as landing page, keyword grouping and ad copy writing. When Google rated your campaign as low quality, you will not get impressions for any of your ads.

To solve this issue, you need to work on the relevancy of your campaign. You need to work on your keyword list, keyword grouping, landing page and adverts in order to get a good quality score. Now, let me share with you a few tips to improve the relevancy of your campaign:

1. Re-group your keywords. Take all your important keywords and place them in unique ad groups – one keyword in one ad group. If you have too many keywords, you can start off with those performing ones.

2. Write a unique advert for each ad group. Make sure you place the keyword in the headline, description and the display URL of your advert. When you place the keywords in your advert, Google AdWords will recognize the keyword in the ad and reward you with good quality score.

3. Make sure you point each ad group to a custom landing page. If you don’t have a landing page that matches a keyword, create it. When you are creating your landing page, you need to place the keyword in the URL, page title, meta tags, H1 and content.

4. Split test your ads. A major component of quality score is the CTR (Click-through-Rate). When your campaign has a high average CTR, Google thinks that your ads are relevant because human are clicking on them. Try to achieve a CTR of more than 2% if you want to score a high quality score.

When you do the steps above, you will make your campaign more relevant in the eyes of Google. When your campaign is relevant, you can say goodbye to the message.

Another factor worth taking note is that the age of your campaign plays a big part in your quality score too. If your campaign is new, it won’t have enough impressions to get a high CTR. So don’t panic if you don’t see results in the beginning. Continue to do your advert split testing and you will achieve a high CTR very soon.
