AdWords Affiliate Marketing – How to Do it

Learning how to use AdWords for your affiliate marketing purposes is no easy feat. Many who have jumped on the train of the Google AdWwords Express, have lost a lot of money and a lot of time that could have been better spent.

In this article, I will outline how to approach AdWords properly, actually, any learning experience and business venture can be approached this way but let’s stick with AdWords for now.

Remember, the tips I’m about to give you are just a starting point, a sort of safety net to hopefully keep you from loosing your virtual shirt and are based on my experience alone.

Step One – Do Your Homework

Before undertaking any venture, even those you may be expert at, it pays, literally, to do your due research and educate yourself.

What this means is simply this, find out everything you can about the in’s and out’s of Google AdWords and Affiliate Marketing. There is so much free information available online on each of these topics that these freebies alone can make you a virtual master of the subjects.

Take everything you learn with a grain a salt, meaning, don’t believe everything you read or are told, even from me, until you can prove it for yourself.

Step Two – The Advice Of The Proven Experts

Learn from the experts and only the proven experts, especially when dealing in business or things that can seriously affect your wallet and your health.

What this means is that you should seek the advice on baking bread from a baker. The advice about Google AdWords from Google and the advice on affiliate marketing from the proven affiliate marketers, which in general are companies like Clickbank, Commission Junction and more, not some single, so called Guru.

You will find, that many experts, Google and Clickbank included, will be happy to help clear the air for you or have a representative interact with you. This is only in their best interest to do so since you are a potential revenue stream for them.

Just be polite, patient and as least of a nuisance as you can possibly be and you will be surprised at the information that can come flying your way.

A suggestion – educate yourself on the big picture first, write down all the points you don’t understand and then fire off your questions one at a time to your expert contact until you have a clear understanding of the total landscape.

Step Three – Plan And Test And Tweak – Repeat

This last step is usually the hardest for all of us, myself included. This is called the planning stage and it is also the stage where many of us plan half heatedly and start firing rounds before we’ve pointed our weapon.

In other words, don’t start hammering until the nail is in place.

Planning is a key strategy for success and it will provide a guideline for you to steer by. This is true in business and life in general, whether you want to believe it or not.

Just try something as simple as getting out of bed in the morning without a plan, part of which is to open your eyes to see where you are going.

Take your time with the planning stage so that you get all your ducks in a row and then start testing your plan, one step at a time.

An important rule of thumb for online testing is to have some type of metrics software so that you can find out what is working and what is not. A great free tool for this purpose is Google Analytics, try it, you’ll be surprised at what it can tell you.

So, now you are working your plan and testing like a mad hatter and then it hits you… what to do with all this information?

What you do with the Intel you are gathering is called the tweaking stage. If you find something is working, find our why and do more of it. Conversely, if you find that something is not working, find out why and if it can’t be fixed, get rid of it.

So there you have it, an easy, or not so easy plan to master AdWords and affiliate marketing. Believe me, it’s much harder than I make it sound but you can do it. Just remember, success is measured by the obstacles you overcome.
