Elements of Successful Advertising Campaign

Advertising is a glamorous and difficult job. It is not just about creating a good tagline and shooting a commercial. There are so many things to consider that it is almost to be compared to a law practice. Everything is studied and wonderful creative materials are always based on some scientific study.

Below are some pointers that will help you create a kick ass campaign.

1) Create a sense of urgency to the buyer. Whatever the call to action is, there has to be a time bomb of some sort so that they are more inspired to do what you are asking them to do, “You need to do this now because it will make you get this such and such”. Amazon is one classic example of this strategy. If you log on today, they will always have a special offer there, a discount of sort, that is good for a very short of period of time. You as a consumer would know that if you want to avail of the discount, you need to get it done now. However, don’t overdo it. If you always have this then people will know it is not really urgent.

2) Clearly tell the customer what they will gain if they do what you are asking them to do. Will they be sexier? Smarter? Will they get more money? Or will they find the man of their dreams? Whatever that is, it has to be attractive and clearly spelled out. Always focus on the market not on the product. They don’t care if you are the number one blah blah. They are after the benefits they will get. The number one motivator of people is money and then vanity. Love is a poor third, sorry.

3) Tell them what do you want them to do. So you have all the elements there but if you don’t tell them what they should do then nothing will happen. If you want them to buy something, say it. If you want them to sign up to your site, say it. If you want them to simply visit your site, say it. Also make sure that whatever it is you are asking them to do, it is easy to do. If you will require them to walk 60 miles in order to see that thing you want them to see, you can forget it. Operate on the right here right now principle.

4) If it works, do it again. Just make sure you don’t appear to be running out of ideas. Usually good to wait a bit before doing it again but do it.
