The phrase ‘sticky content’ has been used in computer conversations for some time. It originated from the idea that quality internet material can make visitors ‘stick’ or stay longer at a particular website. Though the idea is centered around internet content readers, using sticky material as a part of search engine optimization is also an effective approach to attract computer spiders or crawlers to a particular location.


All search engines want to find fresh and quality contents to deliver to users, so they are continuously scanning or crawling the entire web to find that type of subject matter. If that goal is not accomplished, searchers will go elsewhere for that type of information.

Some web visitors who are already well versed on particular topics can glance at a title and categorize it as just another version of the same old story. To make something unmatched in searches, a unique twist to the article or a totally new approach to the subject can gain readers attention which can be retained with ongoing fresh information.
  • Expertise – Any web user would prefer to get information from someone who actually knows what is being said. Even if that may not be fully true of all written subject matter – give it an authoritative presentation and it will be believed! Do research of the topic; cover all details, and provide valuable and credible information – that is how trust is gained. Don’t forget that a side benefit to this effort is that search engines such as Google may similarly view such content and believe that it is coming from an authoritative source.
