Using the Free Google AdWords Tool for Keyword Research

On the web, there are millions of customers looking for something but it is almost impossible to know what they are looking for, right? This is precisely because they do not talk to you and even if your email address is listed on your website, chances are they will not even bother asking. This is where a keyword tool for research comes in.

In essence, a keyword tool for research is a statistical tool that allows you to see which items customers look for the most. This of course helps us with our marketing and advertising. If you want to build a website as an affiliate marketer for instance, there is no point creating a website without doing keyword research first. There may not be any interest in the topic, so check the popular keywords first. What this tool generates for you are numbers that show how many times a specific word or phrase is typed in search engines like Google, Yahoo, or Bing.

Before registering (buying) a domain name it is necessary to carry out research, even if it is only with the Google keyword tool for research. This will ensure you get traffic to your website, and that you have a successful business. Try to include the keyword in your domain name if possible unless you have a general topic for your site.

Go to Google.Com and search for the free keyword tool for research. Or log in to your AdWords account. Either way is fine. Then follow this guide –

  • Use AdWords if you have an AdWords account, log in and go to Settings> Account Settings> My Products > AdWords> Reporting and Tools> Keyword Tool. More details can be found below.
  • Set the Language: if you are targeting English customers, the website language should be set to English.
  • Enter a Root Keyword: in our example above, type dog training in the Google free keyword tool and hit search, Google will give you the competition results per month in your specific niche per country.
  • Be sure there is adequate search volume. Obviously this varies, but I stick to above about 1000 local searches per month.

There are other more advanced keyword tools on the market, but they are not necessary for the beginner. People worldwide use the free Google keyword tool for research very successfully. Google insights is another tool to use before developing a website.

Bottom line when it comes to building an affiliate website as a business. There is no point in having a beautiful looking website if you don’t have any visitors because your keywords are all wrong! You need to get the traffic first! You need to know what people want – then give it to them on your website.

Beginners need to understand the importance of using a Keyword Tool For Research before making any decisions on choosing niche markets and specific keywords for a domain.
