3 Critical SEO Mistakes That Are Guaranteed To Keep You Off The First Page

Anyone who uses the internet knows who Google is and has probably used it before. If you have a website then Google is where you want it to appear. The internet holds more information than any other one of man’s inventions, so this calls for a complex yet easy to navigate structure. Search engines have achieved this and in the process have become one of the most important online resources for people. Learning to optimize your site will increase your search engine position and put you in front of more people. SEO, also known as search engine optimization, is ideal for people who are trying to get visitors to their site and don’t want to pay outrageous prices to get them. Sadly, there is a lot of misinformation floating around about SEO and people apply these harmful methods to their sites. There are some common mistakes that many people make so we decided discuss three of them here.

You will want to stay away from the first SEO mistake and that’s to stay away from too much flash. Flash may make a website cool, but it’s no good for SEO. Flash helps with your human readers but search engines can’t even see it so it won’t help you in the searches.

Content is what attracts the search engine spiders and when they don’t find it, they’ll simply skip your site and move on. Your ranking will be greatly affected by this. You can still have your flash as long as you use text also so that the search engines can find your site. You have to have a lot of text if you want to rank high.

ALT tags should be added to every image your website has. ALT tags describe an image when it’s still loading.

You should also know that ALT tags in your images help you get a higher place within the searches. People usually don’t remember this about optimizing websites. So just keep in mind that by having some of the keywords in your ALT tags, you’ll be more descriptive to both humans and the search engines.

Once you have everything setup your main priority should be to get incoming links but don’t get too many at once because you will get penalized for spamming. A common misconception is that if you blast your new site’s link out and get hundreds or thousands of links in a short period of time you will get high ranking. Honestly, you’ll be better off donating your money to a charity or something. Do your SEO the right way from the beginning because Google is very strict on new sites and will sandbox you for the littlest misstep, like spamming your link on other people’s sites. Link building is necessary in the competitive online environment of today but you will actually outrank your competition by getting links a few links a day, consistently.

Believe it or not, but you now know everything you need to know to dramatically increase your ranking. As you gain experience you will automatically start to notice what works best for your site; but continue to add content and getting relevant backlinks. The more backlinks the better.
