So you have built a great website that sells your product/service, an affiliate product/service, or both; however you are not making any sales. A lot of first time web designers don’t understand how important advertising is to generate the necessary targeted traffic to ensure sales. Advertising is a numbers game, and if you get enough traffic to your website and your product/service is quality, you will start making sales. Here are four tips that will help your website gain exposure and increase sales.

  1. Submit a press release to a free online service. These are great because it gives you practice writing a press release which will come in handy for any future changes or announcements with your business.
  2. Offer a free eBook or newsletter if someone signs up on your website or blog. This is a great way to get access to a large group of pre-quality traffic. You can now build up a list of users that have opted in to get information from you. This is a marketing goldmine. Send out update or newsletters with information on new products or services. Or you can simply send out information and build trust that will help convert to sales later on.
  3. Put ads on free classified websites like Craigslist, Backpage, or others. Free classified sites are great avenues to get your product/service out there. Just remember to write good headlines that catch people’s attention. The key to getting people to click on your advertisement is offer a solution to a problem. People are not interested in being sold something; they are looking for solutions to a problem. Write a good headline and in the body of the advertisement provide information why your product/service will benefit them.
  4. Write SEO articles and submit to online directories. Article directories are a great way to get links to your site. All you need to do is write an informative article on content related to your website and post it on a free online article directory, like EzineArticles or GoArticles. When you write articles just make sure that you have optimized for your specific website’s keywords or keyword phrases.

Advertising is the key to a successful business, and online ventures are no different. Without people visiting your site and buying your product or service, your online business will be sunk. So many times people build a site and believe they can just sit back and watch the sales roll in. The reality is that after you site is built the work has just begun. You need to advertise, advertise, and advertise.

Use different mediums to get the word out about your new website and you will be rewarded. Just remember that generating quality traffic to your website is a process and you need to be patient.
