Getting your Website listed in Google can be challenging, I am writing this article in order to break it down into a few easy steps! I will try to keep this guide as simple as possible so that all you need to do is follow along!

The first thing you’ll want to do is get some backlinks to your website from other related websites. How, you ask? Comments & Message Boards are a great place to start, add your website’s URL to anything you post in them for free backlinks. Once you run out of ideas for those 2 options, resort to using social sites like Digg, Stumbleupon, Reddit, and Twitter to build backlinks to your website. Facebook & MySpace are also great options that you can use to promote your URL. If you have a blog, submit it to Technorati, and no matter what type of website you have, submit it to as many website directories as you can. All of these methods will give you valuable backlinks that the search engines will use to determine the popularity & relevance of your website.

Once you have done that, you’ll want to use a service like SubmitExpress to submit your website to search engines for free. This will make sure that the major search engines like Google, Ask, Bing, and others know that your website exists so that it can be indexed. You’ll only want to do this every 24-48 hours though, as doing it too often can get you blacklisted from the search engines, which is definitely not good for your search engine submission efforts.

After that, make sure your website has a sitemap in XML format (many services exist that will generate one for you if you do not already have one) and submit it to both Google Webmaster Tools and Bing Webmaster Tools so that they will automatically index new pages of your website as they are created. Since the XML Sitemap is automatically “crawled” (read) by the search engines, you’ll want to make sure that you keep it as up to date as you possibly can. New pages being added to your website don’t do anything to help you if the search engines cannot find them.

Finally, check Google and the other search engines for your index status by using this search: “site:yoururlhere.com” (Without the Quotes). This will show you all of the pages of your site that have been indexed so far.
