(Guidelines) for Article Optimization – "Sure Fire" Ways to Hijack the First Position on the SERP

October 1, 2012 by  Filed under: Search

Hello and welcome to my article, I just want to talk with you for a minute about some basic article tips to improve your on page SEO and the overall strength of the site to catapult the results you’re getting right now. This will be a one way conversation but my hope is that you leave with value.

Few things are more frustrating than writing a valuable article that may have taken one hour or more, then waiting 3 months and still no friction on the SERPS (search engines results page), I would change something on my articles weekly in the hopes that something would change and the ranking would jump closer to the top.

I remember changing my articles almost weekly wondering why they aren’t ranking! It was pretty bad because each morning I would refresh my browser a few times to see if the article jumped at all in the SERP. This was so discouraging, all that would happen is it jumped 6 positions and then fell right back down by the end of the day, I was almost able to tell the time of day it would jump.

Let’s take a deeper look and solve this from the beginning so you won’t have to experience the same pains I did.

Here’s some sure fire ways to hijack the first position on the SERP

Interlink your post: This is much easier said than done, but once it’s done you can set and forget. The results are much better when done manually but you can automate this with a plugin called YARPP (Yet another Related Posts Plugin)

This plugin will automatically add the post that relate to each other with a small link at the bottom connecting them together.

Doing this manually can be much more effective because of the links positioning, if you have 3 post all talking about the same thing then simply refer to the page in the middle of the articles somewhere, each time you do this for a page it boost the relevancy of the site and makes it seem more informative in the eyes of Google, this is considered another form of back linking.

This alone can give your articles the boost they need to jump ahead of the competition.

When creating the article in the back office, make sure each time you make a post that the keyword you want to rank for is the first thing you type in the “title” box.
This allows it to show up in the search engines with more relevancies.

Hope you found value in this, talk again sometime soon…
