In a nutshell, backup and recovery is a collection of procedures that are implemented to protect and safeguard your data or information from getting lost or compromised and reconstructing or restoring it to its original uncompromised state should a loss is experienced.  In simple terms, multiple replications of your data is kept safe in a secure location so that if something should happen that could result into massive information loss, you still have the ability to retrieve and rebuild your database with the replicated information you stored. Now why is this relevant to your business? Losing data in a business is very risky and you cannot redo everything since you will waste not only time, but energy as well. Time is precious, even more so when it comes to daily business operations, so with backup and recovery plans in place, the fluidity and continuity of your day to day functions is kept moving. Additionally, backup and recovery assures you that all your files are kept under secure measures and that you and only you can have access to it should the time comes that you need to retrieve anything. Why do we have to make sure we have a solid backup and recovery plan in place? It is better to be safe than to risk losing revenue and client satisfaction because nobody had the foresight to replicate and store the information. However, with backup and recovery you don’t have to worry anymore since everything is secured from all the possible threats of loss and data corruption. How will it affect the business in terms of daily functions? The exchange of information, the record keeping, computations and programs that our businesses utilize in its daily operations is what keeps our companies moving forward and onward.  Take down one key component because of data loss and the resulting downtime will severely affect productivity and efficiency. There’s no harm in keeping your files, records, and data far from the threat of corruption. Information is very important in a business, risking its safety is not considered a smart business practice. A good backup and recovery plan will help your business and your management to be firmer and much more protected from system crashes, data corruption, and accidental deletions.
