Wi-Fi connects your device to Internet wirelessly, through some accesspoints that can be made up to 30 meters away. Wireless access points can beprovided to you by your service provider. Your device should wirelessly connectto its access points before you use your device for connecting to. When youdeal with your Wi-Fiin a systematic order, your PC’s Health also gets optimized.  

Set up your Wi-Fi connection

If your wireless carrier allows Wi-Fi on your device, you can access tothe  Internet when you are away fromyour computer. Wi-Fi is turned off when you first start your device. Wi-Fi willbe turned off automatically when you turn off your device. To set up your Wi-Ficonnection, just follow these steps

1. Click on Start, click Connections, and then clickWireless Manager.

 

2. Click Menu, click Wi-Fi Settings and click Wireless tab.

 

3. Click Add New.

 

4. Enter these following information:

  • In Network name, enter the name of your connection.
  • In Connects to, select Internet or Work.
  • When you want to connect directly to another device or computer and not to a network through an access point, just select “This is a device to device (ad hoc) connection”.

5. Click Next

6. On Configure NetworkAuthenticationscreen, do the following:

  • Select your authentication and data encryption methods.
  • Enter network key information or select, “The key is automatically provided,check box”.

7.Click Next.

8.Select or clear Use IEEE 802.1X networkaccess controlcheck box.

9. To use anExtensible Authentication Protocol (EAP) or a smart card authentication, justselect an authentication of your choice.

 

10. Click Finish.

Turn your Wi-Fi on or off

Wi-Fi is turned off when you start your device first. Wi-Fi automaticallyturns off every time you turn your device off. With these steps you can manageto turn on or off your Wireless device,

1. Click Start, click Settings, click Connections tab andthen click Wireless Manager.

2. Click on the Wi-Fibutton.If the button is turned off, then the button will show lighter color and itwill display an icon with an X mark.

3. Click Done

Edit your Wi-Fi connection

If your wireless carrier allows Wi-Fi on your device, you can then changeyour Wi-Fi connection settings. Before you start this edit procedure, contactyour system administrator or wireless carrier so that you can obtain yournetwork settings.

1. Click Start, Click Connections tab, click Connections andclick Wireless Manager.

 

2. Click Menu, Click Wi-Fi Settings.

 

3. Scroll to your connection that you want to edit and clickMenu, click Edit.

 

4. Make your changes as you need and click Finish.

To Delete your Wi-Fi connection1. Click Start, ClickConnections tab, Click Connections and click Wireless Manager.

2. Click Menu and click Wi-Fi Settings.

 

3. Scroll to the connection that you want to edit and click Menu and click Remove Settings.

 

Therefore, with thesesteps that are given above, you can perform various functions like setting upyour Wi-Fi connection, edit or delete your connection and turn off or on yourWi-Fi connection. By using these methods, you can even optimize your PC’sHealth.
