YouTube Exodus – How to Turn YouTube Views Into Real Traffic

June 11, 2010 by Butterfly | Leave a Comment Filed under: Video

YouTube is one of those marketing tools that is well-known by all, but rarely mastered be even the most veteran of internet marketing gurus. When it comes to YouTube, it can be quite easy to generate views but very difficult to turn a watcher into a website visitor. To really make use of the YouTube platform, it’s important to create a content model that works for you, and the video community.

Don’t Give it All Away

The number one rule when it comes to converting YouTube views into traffic, is to not give away the farm in your video. In an ideal world, you’ve set up a blog post or landing page in which the video in question is merely a part of a greater point. Let’s say for example you are offering a very specific tip in a video about how to write articles more easily with a simple template or concept of execution. When you reach the end of your video and your viewer fully understands how to employ your method, tell them that the next thing they have to do is learn the simple way to maximize that very same technique with specific SEO placements.

The point is not to simply produce a video and tell people that they can find more stuff on your site, but rather to let you users know that there is more to be learned about the exact video they watched if they continue through to the link in the info box, which should take them directly to where they need to go. When you operate in this way, you almost mandate that your views convert into traffic, and you can even include the video on the page they are landing on so that they realize your site is the actual authority source on the matter, and YouTube is merely a medium to deliver it to them.

Answer Questions, But Not on YouTube!

YouTube has a fantastic commenting system for users to communicate with video authors, however it might be in your best interest to disable comments. While I’m a huge advocate of free speech, I’m also an advocate of converting questions into visits. At the end of your videos, tell your users you will gladly answer any questions they might have, and tell them they can ask a question in the comment section of the same page that your info link is teasing them to go to.

Alternatively, you can leave the comments open on your YouTube video and still tell your viewers that you will only be answering questions on your site, however for best results you will likely want to close comments, at least in specific instances. While this can take away the community feel that you may want your YouTube channel to have, it may end up boosting the community appeal that your actual website has. You can still have a commitment to free speech, you are simply funneling the interest to your own page.

How Important is My View Count to My Success?

June 3, 2010 by Butterfly | Leave a Comment Filed under: Video

YouTube is a powerhouse in internet marketing. It is the ultimate in web 2.0 it combines video marketing with social networking and it’s fast, fun and easy. Not to mention the fact that millions of people hop on YouTube every day to watch videos and interact with other people so it’s just a great place to market for pretty much anyone. I see a lot of people out there in the YouTube world marketing their home based business and some of them are doing a great job. A lot of home based business owners however could us a little help so I wanted to talk about something that is pretty important and often ignored. View count.

When you look at a YouTube video you see a few different things, the video (duh) the titles, the description, the user and of course the view count. The view counter tells you how many times a particular video has been viewed (again duh). If I see a video from an online marketer I immediately look at the view count. If a video only has a few views I automatically know that the person who posted it doesn’t 100% know what they’re doing on YouTube. The video might be good and informative but if only 25 people have seen it when what’s the use?

When you have a high view count you are saying that you know what you’re doing and you’re an effective marketer. You’re also saying that your video and information is good enough that lots of people have taken the time to check it out perhaps even multiple times.

So how do you up your view count. First of all the best views are real organic views. Yes, there are things that you can use that will up your view count quickly by refreshing the page for you automatically but it’s frowned upon and really it’s not helping you out that much with your business. You want views that are real. You want real people looking at your videos and getting your information.

So the best way to up your view count is with keywords. Use keywords that YouTube users are going to be searching for. Where do you use the keywords? You can use them in your title, your description and your tags. It is also helpful if you can use keywords in your username and in the description and bio of your YouTube channel.

Content is very important on YouTube and when you have quality content and you use keywords properly you will up your view count quickly and easily.

Thank you for reading! I enjoy working from my computer and would love to share more information with you please take a moment to review my website!

How to Use Orange Hashtags in Comments to Increase YouTube Views

May 26, 2010 by Butterfly | Leave a Comment Filed under: Video

YouTube just quietly launched a new feature in their comments system. Now you can use some hashtags that will show up highlighted in orange in in video comments.

It works pretty much like in twitter, you can click those tags and it will show you a list of the most recent videos where that tag has been used in a comment.

Right now you can only use these colored tags #FTW #LOL #OMG #FAIL but it’s quite possible that they extend this feature to include more hot topics and create some kind of “trending topics”.

NOTE: It’s very important that you put the tags in capital letters.

So, how can you use this to increase YouTube views?

Some people use YouTube comments to try to get some attention but most of them don’t know how to do it.

If you look like you are begging for views, people wil ignore your comments so the first thing you have to do is keep a confident tone, write more words than the average and surprise them with catchy phrases.

Now, adding one of these colored hashtags can increase the heat of attention in the list of comments below a video. Just make sure you use this in your advantage by adding the most important message you want to deliver right after the hashtag.

Try to add a “call to action” kind of comment between two colored hashtags but don’t ask for favours, be confident and show some social proof.

Here is an example of something that you can do:

Hey, this video is not your best one but I’ve enjoyed the part where you *change this phrase to something that actually happens in the video* and *something else*.

I don’t agree with *Enter @username here” comment because *enter your reasons*

I’m doing a contest for *enter the topic of the video* lovers on my channel so if you want to enter

#FTW Subscribe to my channel to win an Ipad *or whatever it is that you are giving away* #FTW

Keep up the good work and don’t stop posting,

Your fan number one,

-*Your username*

Try to provide some value with your comment and add something to the conversation. Try to spend a couple of minutes to make sure you don’t look like a cheap spammer.

By using the highlighted call to action in the middle of the comment you draw all the attention to it. If your comment is short you’ll miss the point and people will ignore you.

This technique works.

People will click your name and will go to your channel. If you have a video offering them an incentive as the main video in your channel it’s quite likely that they will subscribe to you.

Try it out and you will get more YouTube views and subscribers in no time.

Get More YouTube Views – Three Tips to Unleashing Insane Traffic

April 16, 2010 by Butterfly | Leave a Comment Filed under: Video

Everyday hundreds of thousands of videos are uploaded to YouTube. It’s almost impossible to stand out from the crowd and do so quickly. YouTube has quickly become the best place to promote products and services. YouTube will often surpass Google in daily traffic volume and a recent study claims 54% of all web traffic is now coming from YouTube and a handful of other top video communities. YouTube should be a main component of your marketing efforts.

Here are some tips to help you boost your video above the clutter and noise and get traffic.

1) Keep it short. A video that gets lots of views should be fifteen seconds to a maximum of three minutes. There are exceptions, but shorter videos get more plays.

2) Have a great title. A title that has the key phrase you’re competing for, but also one that piques interest is what you need.

3) Have a marketing plan.

Let me focus on item three for a minute. This marketing plan should consist of getting back links from social media websites like Facebook, Twitter, MySpace, Digg and the scores of others. The more back links pointing to your YouTube video the higher you will rank not only in YouTube’s search results, but also Google’s.

You also need to spend time collecting friends and subscribers. Subscribe to everybody in your niche and even other users not in your niche. Leave comments on other videos and build your network. I tell YouTube marketers they should make it a goal to subscriber to thousands of other channels.

Also, if you have a log, embed your YouTube video. Even seek out other bloggers that cover your niche and make them aware of your video.

That’s some primary, basic stuff to consider. There is much more you can do to promote your YouTube video.

How to Get More YouTube Views Easily

March 31, 2010 by Butterfly | Leave a Comment Filed under: Video

So, you’ve just made yourself a new video advertising your website and all the cool information you can find out there, but have no idea how to make sure people find it and get loads of views? Well, you’ve come to the right place to find out.

Firstly, I would just like to mention that the amount of views that you can get for your video will depend a lot on the subject area it is. For example a tutorial on ‘how to make your fortune’ is likely to get far more views than a video of ‘guinea pigs eating their lunch’ (however cute the latter may be).

It really does depend on how much interest there is for your video and whether people will be searching for it and will find it worth their time watching.

Also, have you used the right keywords for your tags? The better the keywords the more views that you are likely to get. Use a keyword suggestion tool such as the Google AdWords Tool to find the exact phrases and words people are searching for and include them in the video’s tags.

In the actual video, are you getting your message across and is it clear what you are saying? The easier it is for people to understand your point, the more likely it is they will subscribe, and therefore see your new videos and get it more views. Remember to be short, direct and to the point. There is nothing worse than someone going on and on and endlessly repeating points about their new service; this is only likely to put people off subscribing to your video channel.

Not only should the points that you’re making be clear, but so also should the images within the video. There needs to be good lighting and sound quality (if there’s audio). If you are advertising a website then it is a good idea to show a preview of the website; this could be screen shots or demonstrations of someone using the site and showing how easy it is to use.

The description of your video at YouTube is also important. In this text you should clearly state what the video is about as well as having your main keyword phrases included naturally in the wording you use. You can also add the link to your website in it as well.

So remember to make your video about an interesting subject area, make a clear point, use good keywords and have good video quality.
